20 Women Inspiring Blockchain Development in Africa

Despite the gender gap in blockchain development, African women are rising, building, and leading in Web3. here, we celebrates 20 female blockchain developers shaping the future and inspiring the next generation.

Out of every 100 developers worldwide, 80 are male, 19 are female, and 1 identifies as non-binary.

The report above is according to the 2024 Developer Gender Distribution Report, a statistic that highlights the gender gap within the global developer ecosystem.

From software engineering to machine learning and artificial intelligence, software development spans various fields in tech. However, with the rise of Web3, a new category of software development has emerged called blockchain development. It requires unique skill sets in building decentralized applications using smart contracts.

Unfortunately, the gender gap is even more pronounced in the Web3 space. Despite its rapid growth and potential, female participation in blockchain development remains low. Yet, we have seen some remarkable female developers in the space.

In honor of IWD 2025, we’re delighted to spotlight 20 remarkable African female blockchain developer (in no particular order). They are not only navigating but also building the future of Web3 in Africa one block at a time.

These women are breaking barriers and contributing to global ecosystems. Their stories are not only a celebration of resilience and brilliance but a powerful reminder of gender diversity and inclusion. By highlighting their journeys, we hope to inspire more women to explore, contribute to, and thrive within the world of Web3 through blockchain development.
